EBN: International buyers represented at Baden-Baden
The first crop of yearlings of Sea The Moon has been as well received as could be hoped and two colts by him consigned by his breeders Gestut Gorlsdorf headed the trade on the first evening of the October Sale at the BBAG. Topping the table was Lot 19 the second foal out of the unraced Questabella (Rock Of Gibraltar), a full-sister to Your Old Pal, winner of the Listed Newmarket Stakes and second in the Gr.2 King Edward VII Stakes. The third dam is none other than Bella Colora (Bellypha), the Meon Valley Stud blue hen. Harald Scheider, racing manager to the Rennpferde Trainings-Center in Munich, sitting with retired master trainer Andreas Lowe, paid €67,000 after an unusually brisk auction for the evening, seeing off Stroud Coleman Bloodstock, acting for Hughie Morrison. The colt will be trained by Sarah Steinberg and Schneider commented: “He was correct, looked athletic and a colt who should stand plenty of work. He had elements of both Sea The Moon and Rock Of Gibraltar in his makeup and they both had plenty of class and were hardy as well.”
Once again Mr Wernicke of Stall Salzburg gave me his trust and kept me involved in his plans for the sales. This was fun and thanks for that. Best of luck to the beautiful Sea The Moon son and the Salzburg enterprise!
A very attractive big and athletic filly was number 302, IDA ALATA - a product of Adlerflug and part of a very successful Schlenderhan family. Her trainer Sarah Steinberg will certainly think about entering her for the Preis der Diana / German Oaks.
It was very special for me to check the horses beforehand with Dr. Gabriele Seitz and Mrs Johnson. The name Seitz is linked to several beautiful memories during my time at Waldfried stud.
