Achim Weyrauch, Racing stable

„After deciding to buy a racehorse I did go to a big racing stable who did not take me seriously. I also had Andreas Löwe in my mind. As we are both from the some borough Mauenheim and I had an interesting talk with Mrs Löwe the whole think started to looked good to me.

The search for a horse who was ready to race turned out to be difficult. I’m an ambitious man and I was looking for a horse with potential. After visiting some studs – including Etzean and Wittekindshof –Mr Löwe gave me a first advice to tell what could be interesting and fitting the budget. At Baden-Baden we looked deeper into this and came up with a first plan.

A decision had been made but because I had some time left Iooked around on my own. My amateur eyes liked two fillies who were offered by the agent Jamie Railton. They were from Ittlingen Stud which everybody - apart from me of course - seemed to know. I liked them a lot and wanted to show them to the trainer.

He quickly mentioned an expert “We can do this, good shoulder, good walk, correct, not too expensive, hopeful father, a filly, the breeder solid no con. Put her as priority one or two.” As I liked the filly as well she quickly became Plan A as Plan B turned out to be too expensive and had some risks. After the vet gave his okay, I did buy her for 24.000 Euro.

She wasn’t an early horse and had her first race at three years. This wasn’t easy for an owner who does patience not think as one of his strengths. But we gave her all the time she needed and she thanked it to us. After being runner-up in maiden races – where the winners turned out to be Derby and Oak horses) we took a big step and send her to the Oaks d’Italia. Son Macia thrived on the heavy ground and finished third in the Classic race and gained Black Type.

She was narrowly defeated as runner-up then again on Group level at Hamburg before crowning her season by winning the Gr.3 Preis der Besitzervereinigung at Hannover. We are very hopeful and happy with Son Macia and we value the expert eye of Mr Löwe. I do believe that like no other person he is able to find horses who are good value. With him you will find a good horse for moderate money.

And one final remark: Mr Löwe also had an eye on The Oaks Italia winner Nepal but he advised me against her as he was not convinced to a 100 per cent of the father. But he certainly was right to have her in focus as well.”
