Veneto wins Niederrhein-Pokal (Gr.3)

Veneto owned by Gestut Winterhauch brings the first Group victory for the new Andreas Lowe Thoroughbred Service. In the Niederrhein-Pokal at Krefeld trainer Andreas Suborics and rider Alexander Pietsch did work out a superb strategy. It looked very spectacular and risky but it paid to go for the better ground on the outside of the track. In the end it produced a convincing win. Well done to the both of you!

There were plenty of cheers in the home Winterhauch. Congratulations to Gerd and Inge, your wedding present gave you plenty of pleasure at the end of the season. Gerd Mosca certainly will have enjoyed these tactics. Many years ago I had a similar idea with Magic Eye in Cologne on heavy ground. I discussed it with the owner and Pietsch and the jockey bravely took the outside line and did cut back to the field in the right moment just before the turn. This strategy did work with Magic Eye twice in Listed races inside two weeks.
